Kolibree is a French-based company dedicated to creating connected solutions to make you smarter, more aware and better equipped to improve your health and your life. Its first product also under the same name, Kolibree, is the world’s first connected electric toothbrush, which was unveiled at CES 2014 for the first time. Unlike anything else that exists today, the Kolibree smart toothbrush has a unique technology to analyze your brushing habits and display them on mobile dashboard for access on your smartphone.
Kolibree refers to Hummingbirds or “Colibri” which are among the smallest and the most agile of birds. They hover in mid-air by rapidly flapping their wings 12–80 times per second around and are known as hummingbirds because of the humming sound created by their beating wings. Trough electric toothbrushes are not yet flighting, their vibrations create a similar humming sound that inspired us.

Simply download the free mobile app onto your smartphone, then connect your Kolibree smart toothbrush to your phone via Bluetooth and every brushing is recorded. The data of how you brushed automatically synchronizes to your smartphone telling you whether you brushed long enough and reached the hard-to-reach but important parts of your teeth and gums.
It will show you easy-to-understand monitoring and scoring and you can easily share your stats with your dentist and family or choose to keep the data private. Designed for families, the app works with several toothbrushes so the entire family can participate together. Kolibree rewards your progress and cheers you on when you are improving, allocating points to kids to encourage them to improve their brushing habits.

Yes since this is the way your brushing habits will get monitored and recorded. The more you learn about your brushing habits, the faster you can do something to improve them! Once you have paired your toothbrush to your smartphone, you can view in real time how you are brushing as well as download everything from the toothbrush to your phone. Every time you pair your toothbrush to your phone, your brushing habits will be uploaded to your phone for easy access and viewing on a mobile dashboard.
We suggest that you do this as often as possible. While your toothbrush will store up to a week of data, you won’t be able to take advantages of some of the app features unless it is synched in real time. A quick pairing with your phone once a week will ensure nothing gets lost and your data is backed up.
First of all, make sure you have enabled bluetooth on your phone and your toothbrush is switched on. Once you have completed those two steps, pair your smart toothbrush to your phone. Like a Bluetooth headset, you will not be able to see the device unless you have already paired with it. If you are still having difficulties you can contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
While it is possible for you to change the toothbrush head for others to use, we don’t recommend you share your toothbrush with other people as the toothbrush will be recording your brushing habits. To get around this problem, it is possible to unpair your toothbrush to avoid recording the wrong information.
Yes! The app is designed to be family friendly. With one account, you can add several users and collect data from several different toothbrushes. If you are a parent, you can create an account with your profile and sync your toothbrush as well as data from your children’s toothbrushes. You’ll need to remember to pair each new toothbrush however so the data is synced and downloaded correctly.
Yes, you can collect data from several toothbrushes at the same time. For example, if you have two toothbrushes – one at home and the other for travel – you only need to pair them once. Once paired, data from both toothbrushes will be collected and stored in your profile.
Yes. The Kolibree toothbrush is designed to work to a depth of 1 metre for up to a half an hour without damage. Why you would choose to brush your teeth while underwater is a mystery to us, but we applaud your persistence.
The head is designed to be replaced and should be replaced periodically. Simply twist the toothbrush head to the left for it to detach and replace it with a new one.
Many dentists advise users to change the toothbrush head of an electric toothbrush at least every 3-4 months, and some suggest as often as every 6 weeks! We suggest you replace your toothbrush head as soon as you notice the bristles are not as rigid anymore since you want the brush head to be in great shape in order to brush your teeth correctly. Your new connected toothbrush is pretty smart however and future versions will advise you when you should change it.
The toothbrush has a non-replaceable battery. When it eventually dies, you’ll need to change your toothbrush. We strongly advise you not to attempt to replace the battery yourself since it is not designed to be taken apart! That said, the battery has a lifespan of about two years so it lasts for quite awhile.
Your toothbrush flashes certain states it is in;
Green = your battery is recharging
Red = Your battery has less than 10% remaining
Blue = your toothbrush is attempting to pair or transmitting data.
After a certain time without use, your toothbrush will switch to a low energy mode, and thereafter to a hard off mode to save on battery life. A simple touch of the button will reawaken it!
Our online introduction for pre-order is slated on Kickstarter sometime in Q2 2014. Our goal is to ship the toothbrush within a few days of receiving your order and have it in your hands within the week. Once your order has been placed on Kickstarter, we’ll update you on the progress. Kolibree’s toothbrushes will be shipped worldwide directly from France. The price of the Kolibree toothbrush will be between US$ 99 and 199 depending on the different versions – and we plan to charge a fixed shipping fee, depending on where you live. If you reside within the European Union, we have to add an additional 19.6% VAT. For countries outside of the EU, other charges such as import duties or local sales taxes may apply. To find out more information, we recommend you contact your local customs office since additional fees by country are beyond our control.
Kolibree products including brush heads will be available starting in Q4 2014 in a number of major cities and on our e-commerce website. The price of the Kolibree brush heads should be around 18$ for a set of 3 brushes.
Pre-ordered products are refundable until the day it is shipped. If your toothbrush has already shipped, there is a ten day return policy. Please, contact us at email@example.com or on our website support page with your payment information and receipt number and we will refund your purchase within ten days.
